Collection Brokerage

Your collection may be ready for its next chapter. If you are considering selling individual fossil shark teeth or a larger collection, talk with The Fossil Market about the possibility of brokering it.

A considered way to explore a sale

Collections are personal. Some have been assembled over decades, with a story behind every tooth. A brokerage inquiry gives us a starting point to understand what you have, your priorities and whether the collection is a fit for our gallery. Acceptance is subject to review.

Two ways to work with us

In-house brokering

We offer in-house brokering through The Fossil Market. If your collection is a fit, we can agree on how specimens will be presented and offered for sale through our operation. The scope, handling arrangements and sale terms are established for your collection.

Collection visits with sales

We also offer collection visits with sales. This option brings the conversation to your collection, with a visit and sales approach arranged around the specimens and your goals. Location, scheduling, sale format, any travel costs and responsibilities are discussed and agreed before a visit is booked.

What to send us

  • An overview of the collection, approximate specimen count and the pieces you consider its highlights.
  • Clear photographs of the front and back of representative teeth, plus close-ups of tips, serrations and roots. Include a ruler for scale.
  • Species identifications, measurements and recorded localities or formations, where known.
  • Original labels, acquisition history and any supporting provenance records.
  • Details of repairs, restoration, polishing, coatings or other treatments, including anything uncertain.
  • Your preferred timeline and whether you are considering a whole-collection sale or individual specimens.

How an inquiry can move forward

  • Start with photographs. Email an overview so we can discuss the collection before you arrange shipment.
  • Review the fit. We can discuss specimen quality, documentation and the scope of a possible brokerage arrangement.
  • Agree on the details. If both sides wish to proceed, commission, pricing authority, custody, shipping, insurance, sale conditions, returns and payout timing should be agreed in writing before work or transfer begins.

Clear expectations from the outset

Submitting an inquiry does not create a brokerage agreement or guarantee acceptance, a valuation, a buyer, a sale price or a sale date. We do not publish a standard commission or payout schedule here; any terms must be confirmed for your collection.

Please do not ship specimens until arrangements have been confirmed. For the initial conversation, photographs and a concise inventory are the best place to start.
